Time To Go Home
02:44
|
|||
You know why I'm here
to come take you home
"I'm lost!" you said
"I don't know where to go."
It's been many long years
since you've seen that boy
He's waiting for you
let's come find your joy.
You've looked in the darkness
you've peeked through some doors
you've seen what you haven't
looked at before.
Now it's time to go home
It's time to go home
Now it's time to go home...
"Where have you been?"
You asked me today.
I know how you feel
I don't know what to say
You're legs are tired
and your heart feels dead
You've cried in the daylight
I've heard all you've said
You've looked in the darkness
you've peeked through some doors
you've seen what you haven't
looked at before.
Now it's time to go home
It's time to go home
Now it's time to go home...

The big bright moon grew a circle in the sky
I noticed it as I went walking on by
the water, the cold, the cold water.
It gave a light that was smooth and sort of blue
It lit my way as I went walking down to
the water, the cold, the cold water.
I don't know much about the moon
How it rises and falls
And how grows a sure circle around it
Anytime an icy night falls, an icy night falls
Long ago on a cold California night
I saw the moon sink 'neath a ridge to my right
And my knees they buckled beneath me
I have a friend who said he'd heard someone say
"If you hold your hands out after a cold winter's day
And the full moon is rising above you."
"You can feel it's heat on the center of your palm."
But it gets so cold that it doesn't take me long
To put my hands back deep in my pockets.
I don't know much about the moon
How it rises and falls
And how grows a sure circle around it
Anytime and icy night falls
I don't know much about the moon
How it rises and falls
And how grows a sure circle around it
Anytime an icy night falls, an icy night falls.

Pretty As An Orchard
02:58
|
|||
Like a flock of black ravens
on and open field of snow
So my love comes to my mind
With her glance as a haven
and a touch that lets me know
She's a jewel of a find
The laughing leaves never sang a song
As beautiful as hers
And she's pretty as an orchard
in the sweet autumn time
Her eyes are the grass
where I lay down in my dreams
She's a quilt for my soul
My thirsting body runs to her
as if she were a stream
It's by her I'll make my home
Never in this world
have I come to such a place
And never in this world
will I kiss another face.

Shout It All Out Loud
02:57
|
|||
Got no thing against this world
It's nearly always done me right
But if I see beyond my skin
See all that isn't white
You know my blood's the same as yours
Red and running through my veins
Like they're running through the streets
Like they're running through the rain
There's so much that keeps us here
In these holes not dug by us
There's so much that keeps here
Waiting on this bus
Wanna grab your hand in mine
Wanna face the screaming crowd
Wanna break down every door
Wanna shout it all out loud
Don't believe a word he says
He's all crooked twisted lies
He's got venom in his voice
Black magic in his eyes
Let's walk across that line
Let's see how much they care
Set a hammer to these walls
Let's see how much we dare
To feel our hands entwined
To face the screaming crowd
To break down every door
To shout it all out loud

Indian Railways
02:59
|
|||
Give me a bench with rice field views
The open air blows
The rocking car lulls and soothes
Speak to me sir and say what you know
I've gotten a strange feeling
You've got some wisdom so show
Lunch goes out the window
Cold drinks clink in the aisle
When a child waves I wave
I wave I laugh and I smile
Oh I smile
Chennai soon the sun is gone
My lips are spiced
It's no longer hot just warm
Oh give me back that breeze and rhythm
With a rocking car's song
And an Indian man's vision

Via Dolorosa
03:39
|
|||
Oh the Via Dolorosa, the way of the cross
it winds through the allies
past the dirty dark walls
and out to the open
the magistrates sit
Oh the Via Dolorosa
Oh the Via Dolorosa, the way of the cross
it goes through your kitchen
through all your halls
and into you bedroom
with your love lying there
Oh the Via Dolorosa
Oh the Via Dolorosa, the way of the cross
it leads through your country
it's the way of the lost
across all the highways
and through all the skies
straight through the heartland
and mountains so high
Oh the Via Dolorosa
Oh the Via Dolorosa, the way of the cross
through chambers and doorways
where you've counted the cost
we will walk this dark alley
we will climb this steep hill

A Lenten Song
04:46
|
|||
Small chapel, early evening
In the late winter light
The candle are all lit
Around us and before us
The cantor starts the chorus
As I look from 1 to 12
The wooden burden on His back
And a long walk up ahead,
"for you my child"
He said so mild.
Now the harmonies are swelling
Some are fishing for their line
But all of us are asking
"Jesus, remember me?"
"Remember me."
In the silence after song
I heard a flock over head
Traveling to their home
With hopes of the spring time
A green land they will find.

Mother, Your Son
04:20
|
|||
Mother, you'll never know
And I my words will never show
How much I love you.
But I need a place to go.
I need room to grow
I need room to learn
I need room to fall
I need room to cry
to say goodbye
Father, your son
Has heard your words
And now he will run
To go and test them
But I need your voice to say
I'm always welcome home.
I need room to grow
I need room to learn
I need room to fall
I need room to cry
to say goodbye
A young man now
And my life's just begun
20 years with you
and in 20 years I've won
Your affection
And I know that I have always been
The good one
But I need room to grow
I need room to learn
I need room to fall
I need room to cry
to say goodbye.

Diamond In Her Eye
04:46
|
|||
She's got a diamond in her eye
Sun rises in her hair
And she speaks the sound of soft wind
in the morning mountain air
She's a tiny flower trembling
Before the coming of the spring
And she's waking with a new day
and she hopes in everything.
She's a lonely mother crying
her children are the poor.
And she'll nurse them all to health again
and walk them to the door.
She's a firework in the distance
Lighting up the sky.
She's a sight I only catch from
the corner of my eye.
She's a half moon partly hidden
By storm clouds in the night.
And she stays behind the storm clouds
hiding all her light.

10. |
||||
When the wind is blowin' sideways
and the rain is in your eyes
When your runnin' far from something
and you don't know where to hide
When your wakin' up and crying
'cause there's trouble on your mind
When you clock is loudly ticking
and empty's all you find
I'll be there, when you call
any time at all
Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall
When it feels like all your prayin'
gives you nothin' in your hands
And when it feels like all your saying's
getting covered up in sand
When the coming of the day
makes your scared to go to bed
And the early morning bird songs
Leave you feeling full of dread
I'll be there, when you call
any time at all
Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall
You're the words to all my songs
You're the rhymes in all my poems
You're the flower for my bee
Your the light when I come home
And if your feeling so alone
and your got is fear
Let me hold you close against me
and whisper in your ear
That I'll be there, when you call
any time at all
Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall
